About Irkeep
Irkeep started as a personal box for the documents that pile up in real life: scanned contracts, warranty papers, invoices, insurance letters, the PDF your landlord sends once a year.
Cloud services solve this, but most of them solve ten other things at the same time. We wanted the opposite — a place where a folder looks like a folder, a file behaves like a file, and nothing asks for permission to notify you.
What it does
- Keeps a set of folders with your documents, mirrored on each device you use.
- Uploads changes when the connection allows, so a slow mobile network does not break a large file.
- Lets you search file names and open common formats without downloading first.
What it does not do
- No real-time collaborative editing.
- No photo library, no media streaming, no team chat.
- No endless integrations. If a feature would double the interface, it stays out.
Where it is now
The service is running in a closed test with a small number of personal accounts. It is not open for public registration at the moment. If you would like to be told when that changes, write to the address on the contact page.
Technology, briefly
Files are stored as they are, in ordinary folders on ordinary disks. We use standard encryption for transfer and keep the storage layer deliberately boring — the kind of thing that still works in five years.
